Introduction Porous carbon materials loaded with suitable chemicals are used as highly effective sorbents for specialty applications, like purification of air for clean rooms or respiratory protection [1, 2]. The high performance of such hybrid sorbents is usually a consequence of a synergic effect, resulting from physical adsorption in pores of carbon material combined with chemical interaction between the additive and the target adsorbate. Loading of the chemicals to porous carbons is normally realized through impregnation of commercially available activated carbons [3]. Alternatively, heating of suitable carbon precursors mixed with some chemicals can be also used to prepare porous carbon materials carrying additives [4, 5].
