The Bit Error Rate (BER) on the forward link of a single cell CDMA system using concatenated Walsh/m-sequences is studied. BER results obtained by the Gaussian approximation, by the characteristic function approach and by Monte Carlo simulationare compared. A modified Rake receiver is found to have better performance than the standard Rake or correlation receivers especially for Rician faded multipath channels with Rice factors greater than 2 dB.
