We describe a new technique for reconciling measurements (collected in a system) based on a compliance with inequality constraints conveying the domain in which the probable state of the system concerned is situated. We also use the model of the system whose residuals must also be restricted; they must, in other words, be close to zero. Lastly, the complete problem of measurement reconciliation appears in LMI form (Linear Matrix Inequality) and may thus be solved with software tools which are specific to this technique. Examples show that the classic problems of balancing can be solved: total flow balances, partial flow balances, balances with partial measurements, consideration of measurements with bias.
