This paper describes an energy storage system comprised of a hydrogen fueled PBM fuel cell storage battery and solar electric panels. Hydrogen for operation of the fuel cell is obtained by reacting calcium hydride with water. The fuel celloperates at 0.8 volts/cell and relies on internal reactant humidification in order to minimize ancillary power consumption.
