Despite the great advances in auto technology, a fundamental fact remains: cars need to carry their own fuel. That fuel is, of course, gasoline which combusts in the engine, powers the car, and pollutes the air.Significant development is underway to produce vehicles driven by electric motors instead of combustion engines. Some of the leading technologies include: pure electric, which uses exclusively a medium sized battery; fuel cells, which use batteries forintermediate electrical storage; and hybrid, which combines a small gas engine and a battery. All of these systems result in substantially lower pollution.All state-of-the-art battery systems contain nickel material in one form or another. This presentation outlines H.C. Starek's unique, environmentally-friendly process for producing active nickel compounds for batteries which help make the new generationof auto technologies possible.
