In conversations with U.S. swine practitioners on foreign animal diseases, practitioners often say that they hope they are not the first ones to see Classical Swine Fever (Hog Cholera) in the U.S. An even worse scenario would be the notoriety afforded the practitioner that missed the first diagnosis of CSF in the U.S. With the official eradication of CSF in the U.S. concluded in 1978, it would be uncommon for practitioners to include CSF in their differential diagnosis.
