The porcine enzootic pneumonia is widespread in swine populations over the world (1). The disease is caused by infection with Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae. Health monitoring programs should be based on clinical inspections combined with laboratory diagnosis. Dako Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae ELISA is a blocking immunoassay based on a 74 kDa-specific monoclonal antibody (2). The evaluation of Dako ELISA have been described, with a herd sensitivity between 93 to 100% and a herd specificity between 85 to 96% (3, 4). The principal advantage of this test is its specificity, it does not cross react with other mycoplasma species. In consequence, this test is the best choice to monitor negative herds. Normally, the results from positive samples are expressed in inhibition % and are semi-quantitative. However, in combination with a titration method developed at Biovet the results become quantitative and allow accurate study of antibody kinetic for serological profiles, vaccine evaluation, passive immunity evaluation.
