WHY AND HOW SUPPLEMENTARY ARTIFICIAL LIGHT IS REQUIRED IN AN OFFICE SPACE ILLUMINATED BY WINDOWS

摘要

In order to identify why and how supplementary artificial light is required in an office space illuminated by windows, a subjective experiment using scale models was conducted. In a room with a window facing south equipped with a light shelf, the required illuminance from the supplementary light increased with an increase in the distance from the facade and decreased with an increase in luminous emittance of the window. In a room facing north, however, the higher luminous emittance of the window, the more supplementary light required.
