A reproducibility/repeatability round robin study was conducted on the flexural behavior of a Nicalon~(TM) fiber Sylramic~(TM) S-200 ceramic matrix composite (CMC). The CMC was comprised of 8 plies of a CG Nicalon~(TM) fabric in a symmetric 0/90 lay-up, a proprietary boron-containing interphase and a silicon nitrocarbide matrix with a silicon nitride filler. Ten laboratories participated in the study, testing ten flexure test bars (3 x 9 x 110 mm) at ambient temperature in 4-point, 1/4 point flexure (80 mm outer span). For the 100 flexure tests, the mean flexural strength was 338.6 MPa with a repeatability of 9.9 percent and a reproducibility of 11.1 percent. The mean flexural failure strain and elastic modulus in flexure were 4640 mu strain and 93.0 GPa, respectively. The flexure test results were analyzed for test method variations between laboratories and for specimen variations.
