Pleasures of a non-conformist: on being a fault-tree analyst

Many papers have been written over the years about fault tree techniques, fault tree's place in the system safety toolkit, or various fault tree applications. It struck me that I had never seen a paper about the "pleasures" of doing fault tree analysis. Nor has anyone addressed the necessary skills and qualities of a top-notch analyst - and the quirks. This paper delves into the upsides and the downsides of being a top-notch analyst, and hopefully pokes fun in a nice way at what I believe to be a group of truly dedicated professionals.
