摘要

Torque Teno virus (TTV) is a non-enveloped, circular, single stranded DNA virus that may infect human, non-primate and domestic species including swine. Two specific TTV genogroups (TTV1 and TTV2) have been described in pigs. At the moment, nested PCRis the technique used to detect TTV in pig samples. TTV is considered non-pathogenic, but a recent study has shown an increased prevalence of TTV2 in postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) affected animals compared to non-affected ones (1). Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the essential infectious cause of PMWS and is linked also to other diseases such as porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome (PDNS). The objective of the present work was to investigate the presence and distributionof TTV2 in tissues of pigs suffering from PMWS or PDNS by means of a newly developed in situ hybridization (ISH) technique.
