Evaluation of WWER 440/213 Containment Compartments for NPP Mochovce

In the frame of the safety improvement program for NPP Mochovce, Slovakia, the maximum pressure difference loads and temepratures acting on the containment compartments were evaluated and the structural design verified (1). The structural re-evaluation was performed considering the maximum pressure difference loads, the pertinent thermal effects and the local impacts due to pipe rupture, jet and whip forces. A large degree of self-relieving thermal stress at the operational and accidental conditions due to cracking of concrete and time-dependent effects was considered.
