AGING PROPERTIES OF 765KV POLYMER INSULATORS IN A CONTAMINATED COASTAL ENVIRONMENT

摘要

Although there is some industry experiences regarding the application of polymer insulators at 765kV, most of them have been obtained under low contaminated or simulated aging condition. With this, a long term natural aging test in a contaminated costal environment is conducted to evaluate the performance of polymer insulators at 765kV. For that purpose, 5 different polymer insulators manufactured by 3 different manufactures are installed at real scale 765kV test line in South Korea. In order to find long term aging properties, a few site experiments are conducted such as IR/UV inspection, hydrophobicity test, and visual inspection. During the test period, several significant aging performances in accordance with manufactures were identified. Especially the role of grading (corona) ring was clearly showed and the material properties for enduring of contaminated are well compared for each manufactures. With these results, it can be seen that utility companies can get useful information for selecting and installation of UHV polymer insulators at site.
