Water storage is an essential component of all community water systems. in cold regions, storage is an especially critical element where the water source is seasonally limited. Construction of large, heated water storage tanks on permafrost requires specialized designs and methods of construction. Components must be insulated to minimize heat loss and heat transfer to the supporting soil. Water stored in the tank must be continuously heated to prevent freezing.
