Earliest analysis of the manufacturability of a product: adequation between production means and product.

The design of a mechanical workpiece is constrained by its manufacturability. But one of the criteria that characterize this property is the existence of a setup capability and of kinematics that allow to realize a set of machining features. As making the machine-tool and the workpiece to machine fit has to be doen "as soon as possible", the simulation of the machining process has been eliminated. To answer the issue and systematize the approach, a modelization of the machine-tools is proposed, an extension of the machining feature as extreme situations is defined, a method of association workpiece/machine-tool is presented.
