In 1974 Wainwright considered a special class of algebraically special perfect fluids which generalize the vacuum Robinson-Trautman solutions. He was able to reduce the field equations to one ore two partial differential equation in three independent variables. Up to now only very few solutions of these differential equation have been found. Here we give a symmetry analysis of these equations and use its results for the construction of (similarity) solutions. Some of these solutions are new.
