Thank you, Mr. Neumann. Good morning ladies and gentlemen. It is my pleasure to speak to you this morning on the status of North American automated people mover systems.Months ago, when I was asked to put a title to this presentation, I hit upon the phrase "Pilgrim's Progress" as a whimsical way of characterizing our mutual quest as advocates of automated transit. Some of you will recall that "Pilgrim's Progress" is anallegorical novel that was written in 1678 by an Englishman named John Bunyan. In "Pilgrim's Progress," a pilgrim named Christian embarks on a journey to discover Heaven. During his pilgrimage, Christian endures many trials and tribulations -- but he also discovers many friends, who treat him with kindness and good will. Not unlike the people mover business. I think most of us have felt like a pilgrim at one time or another as we've worked to advance the cause of automated transit. Today, however, we canall feel like very successful pilgrims as I give you an overview of what we have accomplished together since the Fourth International Conference, held in Las Colinas, Texas in 1993.
