Parametric studies are carried out to evaluate the behavior factors of some typical for the Bulgarian construction practice steel moment resisting frames.Several frames are designed according to current Bulgarian codes and the capacity design procedure of EC8.The q-factors are evaluated by the modified version of the Akiyama-Kato energy based method.Static pushover analysis with inverted triangular load distribution is made to obtain story stiffness and yield shear forces.Time history response analysis for several acceleration recrods is performed.DRAIN-2DX software is used for both type of anlaysis. Some other methods as N2 method and Balio-Seti method are used for the behavior factor evaluation.The acceleration time histories are scaled until the structure is lead to the ultimate state.The latter is defined by various criteria.Parameters that influence q-factors are discussed and some conclusions are drawn.
