This presentation investigated the foaming behavior of woodfiber/polypropylene (PP)/nano-clay nanocom-posites. Nanocomposites with a small amount of clay were prepared and the structures of nanocomposites were characterized by x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The extrusion foaming experiment blown with N_2 was conducted. Cell nucle-ation and growth of composite foams were studied with processing parameters such as temperature, pressure and clay content. The effect of nano-clay on the final cell morphologies and foam density of woodfiber/PP/ clay nanocomposite foams were identified.
