摘要

A reliable method for measuring the initial storage of a slope and the infiltration rate for either a simulated or natural rainfall event is presented in this paper. The measurement produces rainfall and runoff hydrographs for a given rainfall event. It is widely known that the runoff hydrograph measured for a hill slope will always lag behind the rainfall hydrograph. The amount of rainfall between the start of rainfall and the start of the runoff hydrograph, is the initial storage of the slope. The difference in areas under the rainfall and the runoff hydrographs is the total infiltration for that rainfall event. The equipment setup for runoff, porewater pressure and rainfall measurements are presented along with a natural and a simulated rainfall runoff hydrographs. The measurement results can be used to study the infiltration characteristics of residual soil slopes under tropical rainfall conditions.
