This paper presents the results of analysis on the measured behavior of insitu walls using the measured data collected from the various deep excavation sites in Korea. A variety of insitu wall systems from more than 50 sites were considered covering a wide range of wall types, including soldier pile, SCW, CIP, and diaphram walls. Examined include wall movements and apparent earth pressure distributions. The measured data were thoroughly analyzed to investigate the effects of variou components of insitu wall system on the wall movements as well as apparent earth pressures, such as stiffnesses of wall and support system, type of wall. The results were then compared with the available data, and a semi-empirical equation for predicting deep excavation induced maximum wall movement and design earth pressure envelopes for strutted and anchored walls were suggested, which are applicable exclusively for the ground conditions frequently encountered in Korea. Information is presented in forms to provide tools that can be used for design and analysis.
