A model for integrating design and manufacturing using group technology and feature-based modeling

摘要

Group Technology (GT) and Feature-based Design (FBD) have been used for supporting the integration of Design and Manufacturing in a large range of applications. This paper presents a model to improve the integration of Design and Manufacturing data and to allow the formation of a common database by using concepts of both GT and FBD. A prototype called FB_CAD was developed to illustrate the utilization of the model in a hypothetical environment.
