The ecology and distribution patterns of Cycas micholotzii Dyer in Guangxi

Cycas micholitzii Dyer is found in 4 counties of Guangxi Province where is the center of modern distribution of the species, and the total distribution area is 9500 square kilometers. The populations living in the subtropical valley rain forests have big plant and higher seed production, and the natural regeneration is well. But the cycad plants in thickets on limestone hills among peaks of Karst mountains grow slowly and with bad coning and a few seeds. Their ecological habitats have been destroyed seriously because of bad management.
