Influences of liquid-phase operating parameters on CO_2 absorption performance of Gempak 4A structured packing were investigated. the interested operating parameters include liquid loading, liquid temperature, solvent concentration, and pattern of initial liquid irrigation. The absorption experiments were conducted in a 0.10-m diameter column using aqueous solutions of sodim hydroxide-NaOH and monoethanolamine-MEA as absorption solvents. Experimental results show that absorption performance of the structured packing is generally a function of liquid-phase operating parameters, i.e., it increases with liquid loading, temperature, and solvent concentration. Change of the initial liquid irrigation pattern affects the absorption performance of the top packing element.
