BPR (Business Process Reengineering) is a hot topic in the management academic field and the business field. Its implementation is a kind of systems engineering. The key tasks in BPR are the comprehension, analysis, and redesign of business processes, which are difficult due to the stochastic and time-varying features of business processes. Process simulation tools can present the dynamics of business processes and provide quantified performance measures for reasonable decision, thus greatly reduce the cost and risk of BPR. This paper is based on the authors' experiences gained in the Administrative Purchasing Process BPR project at a company in Shenzhen, China. Starting from a simulation-based BPR framework, this paper tries to put forward an operable simulation-based BPR implementation approach, then makes detailed explanation to its application in the above case, hoping to provide reference for Chinese enterprises.
