Simulation of the temperature distribution control system for a tubular polymerization process

摘要

Although the molecular weight distribution (MWD) directly affects polymer characteristics, the lack of reliable on-line sensors for its measurement makes the direct MWD control difficult. For a tubular polymerization process, however, the temperature distribution (TD) along the tubular reactor relects the polymerization reactions taking place in the reactor, which determine the MWD, and can be measured accurately. Thus, in this case it is possible to control the MWD indirectly via controlling the TD and for which a moment value control method is proposed i this paper, giving an internal model control system with the first and second-order moments about the origin being its controlled variables. Simulation results show that this method is feasible.
