Modelling and simulation in Europe is expanding at a great rate with many new areas developing. Perhaps just as importantly, the integration of simulation with related areas such as concurrent engineering and business process modelling, and of the use of graphics and animation for presenting results is increasing. Further, this paper considers the rapid development of distributed simulation and the need for the development of distributed databases of re-usable simulation models, required to assist not only with the networking of military training simulators, but also for rapid product prototyping and distributed design and manufacturing.
