The paper approaches the problem of the vibration control of adjacent structures, subjected to base excitation, by use of special connections. Two control strategies are considered and compared: passive control, based only on the energy dissipation ability of the connections, and semi-active control, where different types of connectiosn are activated or deactivated during the motion, by means of a low power mechanism, according to a propertly selected control algorithm. In both approaches the characteristic parameters of the connectiosn have to be selected for optical performance.
