Pure potassium perchlorate and binary mixture of magnesium and potassium perchlorate with zero oxygen balance (mass ratio of magnesium and potassium perchlorate is 41:59) were researched by using simultaneous TG-DTA under static air atmosphere, and the results show that pure potassium perchlorate has an endothermic peak at 300 corresponding °C g to a rhombic-cubic transition, a fusion temperature around 580°C and decomposes at about 600 °C, yet at 480°C potassium perchlorate and magnesium start to react which is main solid-solid exothermic reaction and there is gas creation. Mg and air react at about 580°C, which is a exothermic reaction. The residues were analysised by XRD, and the result shows that the residues are the mixture of MgO and KCl.
