Numerical simulation of two-dimensional cavity flows around the Clark Y 11.7% hydrofoil is performed to make clear the unsteady behavior for various cavitation conditions. A numerical method applying a mesoscopic model, which is based on a modeling of compressible gas-liquid two-phase media proposed by the authors, is applied to analyse above cavitating flows. The present method permits us to treat rather simply the whole gas-liquid two-phase flow field including wave propagation and large interface deformation in spite of the use of a fixed mesh system. Numerical results such as detailed visualizations of the unsteady cavity flows and the comparisons of predicted time-averaged velocity profiles with LDV measurements are provided.
