摘要

CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) has become an increasingly important tool for glass manufacturers to guide and optimize system designs and operations. The current work is part of an effort to leverage CFD resources in the decision-making processes in engineering, operations, and businesses. The objective of the current work is to validate a CFD model to understand the fluid dynamics and heat transfer in front end glass delivery systems with actual field measurements. In the current simulation, glass is considered a Newtonian fluid with its viscosity described by the Fulcher equation. Detailed attention was given to the treatment of various boundary conditions. Significant effort also went to validating the CFD model with field measurements. The validation work has shown that the CFD model developed for front end glass delivery systems predicts the temperature field with reasonable accuracy.
