A method of active control of the nonlinear structural response due to vibration using improved pole assignment is outlined. In this study, the locations of the poles are investigated and the method of assigning poles to achieve the desired response has been improved, the amount of precision and calculations can be controlled by using either the Netwon -Greogory or Lagrange interpolating polynominals. The Lagrange method, presented in this paper, was utilized in an approximation to calulate response by the pole assignment method. The investigations are based on material nonlinearty. The additional work, contained in this paper, indicated that approximation provided results where the errors were negligible. The feasibility of the method is demonstrated by an example of ten story structure.
