An on-line detection and measurement system for step-shaft is introduced in this paper, and a concept of "Agile-Measurement" is proposed by the authors. The system may automatically realize the multi-channel data-acquisition, zero-calibration, failure-diagnose. It can also realize the measurement of diameter, coaxiality, radial variation, ellipticity and etc. The tolerance range of diameter and coaxiality is +-8 approx 1000 #mu#m, measuring accuracy is 2 #mu#m. The system can also be used for out-line-line measuring and inspecting.
