A precision chucking lathe, the DeltaTurn 40 has a unique 'minimised machine-loop' design to yield component accuracy higher than can be achieved on machines of conventional design. Configured as a fully automated production cell, the machine utilises unique machine tool technology to overcome errors inherent to most machine tools, and to do this cost-effectively. This paper briefly describes the technology incorporated in the machine, describes how these methods contribute to the machine accuracy and presents some of the machining results carried out in both hard and soft turning modes.
