Two methods named SHS/QP and CS/HPS for the fabrication of multiphase ceramics were compared. In SHS/QP process, densification was obtained by acting a quick high pressure force on the synthesized "soft" sample immediately after SHS process. In CS/HPS process, densification was obtained by a high pressure in a HP stove together with a "thermal explosion" synthesis. Systematic analyses were carried out on the two processes. Effects of different parameters on SHS/QP and CS/HPS and finally on the sample's microstructure and properties were studied. By controlling of the sample's composition and manufacturing process, dense composites with good mechanical properties were made.
