The primary objectives of the research project were to find a water treatment scheme that would enhance filter performance, aid in amine flotation and eliminate sulfate and fluoride from tailing water. Filter slurry and filter water samples were obtained from four Minnesota taconite operations: LTV Mining, Minntac, Inland Steel Mining and Hibbing Taconite. Flotation feed and flotation water samples were obtained from LTV Mining, Minntac and Inland Steel Mining.
