GLASS MAT REINFORCED RECYCLED THERMOPLASTIC (GMRT)

Glass Mat reinforced Thermoplastic sheet (GMT) is an established commercial product with annual domestic volumes over 100 million pounds. Glass Mat reinforced Recycled Thermoplastic (GMRT) is GMT based on recycled thermoplastic resins. GMRT is made from a nonwoven glass mat, combined with polypropylene from post consumer and manufacturing waste recycling. This material exhibits equivalent mechanical properties to commercial GMT. The process for manufacturing GMRT possesses several competitive advantages over conventional GMT processes. This paper explains the product, its properties, and the production process. Also discussed are applications for the product, and the economic and ecological advantages derived from its use.
