The main goals of this research are to experimentally determine the qualitative and quantitative accuracy of a commercial mold filling software package and to examine the flexural and impact performance of Gas-Assisted Injection Molded (GIM) parts compared to conventional Injection Molded (IM) parts. Experiments were performed on parts having different gas channel distributions. The effect of shot size, delay time, gas pressure and melt temperature were studied. Also, the effect of different rib cross-sections on flexural properties were determined.
