In some deep oil reservoirs, in which fluids are stored under high pressure and high temperature conditions, the light components in supercritical state are able to dissolve a significant amount of heavy components. The heavy components in large proportion may induce modifications of the thermodynamic properties of the reservoir fluids. To predict these changes, it is essential to know the properties of the heavy fraction throughout the pressure domain to which the crude oils are subjected between downhole and surface conditions. There is however, as yet, very little experimental data on these heavy fractions. In particular, thermophysical data of synthetic or real heavy fractions remain scarce under high pressure.
