Biodegradable polymer deivces have widely used for controlled release of drugs. Especially, polylactic acid (PLA) and their copolymer with glycolic acid (PLGA) are most frequently studied in the literature. The biodegradable polymer devices may be implanted in the posterior segment of the body including the eye and the brain to which the drug may reach with very difficulty through the conventional administrations. The release mechanism of drug from the biodegradable polymer devices have yet been described in detail. In this study, we have developed a mathematical model for describing release profile of drugs from the biodegradable polymer devices. The model parameters have also been correlated with the molecular weight of the polymers.
