The capability of the bacteria mixture to degrade Pina oil in the presence of nutrients and seawater was assessed by comparing the results obtained with indigenous marine bacteria, both in the absence and in the presence of nutrients. Degradation was measured on the 5~(th), 13~(th) and 21~(th) days of the expeirment, by determination f the most probable number (MPN) for hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria. After 21 days, this number goes up to 3x10~8 bacteria/ mL. Finally, the biological oxygen demand after 5 days (B.O.D._5) and at the end of the degradation process (B.O.D._f), the Biodegradation Constant (K_1) and the BIochemical Stabiliziation Constant (k) are determined.
