The relation between magnetic field shielding characteristics of Bi(2212) and Bi(2223) rings and the current limiting behaviors of limiters with rings were studied. The Bi(2212) limiter shows two-step fault current limitation, but the Bi(2223) limiter shows single-step limitation. This difference corresponds to the difference of field penetration properties of the rings.
