In Japan, generation of coal fly ash at powerplants is increasing year by year and is necessitating itseffective utilization.Kobe Steel, Ltd. ,Techno-Resource Co, Inc., COMRES Corp.,Techno-Resource Co, Inc., together with the Center for CoalUtilization, Japan (CCUJ) have been developing newtechnology which is manufacturing Artificial Ultra Light-weight Aggregates (hereinafter called AULA) from coal fly ash.The performance of AULA as concrete is equal in every wayto concrete which uses conventional artificial light-weightaggregate and natural coarse aggregate, in terms of workability,stmcture member properties, durability and all other aspects.Techno Resource Co, Inc., is a subsidiary of Shikoku ElectricPower Co., Inc. and Sumitomo-Osaka Cement Co..COMRES Corp., is a subsidiary of Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc. and Chichibu-Onoda Cement Co..This paper describes the result of our concrete test and new technology.
