Thermodynamic calculations of the chemistry of combustion of two different biomasses, aspen wood and wheat straw, were used to determine a quantitative description of the acid-base chemistries of these systems. Examination of important reactions such as potassium oxide and calcium oxide with water, SO_3, CO_2 and SiO_2 provided insights into the complex set of reactions involved in these systems and provided quantitatie data on the total chemistry in these multiphase, multicomponent systems.
