The use of artificial neural net for signal analysis and synthesis is motivated by the fact that biological neural systems are superb signal processors. In this research, functional-link net is adapted for nonlinear and adaptive signal processing. It is called Neural Net Signal Analyzer-Synthesizer(NNSAS). Following the discussion on the signal analysis procedure, the simulation experiments are performed on a typical signal(a square wave). Some interesting characteristics of NNSAS are obtained from the experiment results. The theoretic analysis and experiment results show that the algorithm of adaptive signal analysis and synthesis is an effective approach to signal processing.
