A data acquisition system (DAS) to be used for microwave propagation research measurements is described. A brief description of the signal properties to be acquired is given together with a physical explanation of the underlying phenomena and the measuring system. Propagation experimenter objectives and storage requirements are seen to be a compromise that can be solved only by a real time data processing that can estimate the minimum required data acquisition rate. A solution based on a DSP data acquisition card is described as a possible solution and some details and test results of a developed system are described.
