Use of performance assessment for EBS development

摘要

The relation between the development of the engineered barrier system (EBS) for HLW deep geological repositories and EBS performance assessments has been clarified on the basis of a comparison of the general logic of systems engineering,providing a systematic framework for the development of complex engineering systems,and performance assessment approaches.It has been shown that the inclusion of performance assessments in EBS design development can help to specify requirements both for the whole EBS and its components and facilitate thus the license application process.
