A fast and user-friendly service creation methodology for TINA

The high-level approach to service creation means the creation of a service from implementation- and architecture-independent components. This approach is already being used with intelligent networks (IN). The high-level approach is interesting because it meets a generally increasing need to reduce the complexity of the underlying architecture and/or programming languages to suit a particular category of users (for example, users with a telecom background). Though service creation is a new area for TINA, it is currently being studied in a number of projects. Until now, a service supported by TINA has been created by defining and assembling target objects. In other words, the service creation methodology follows the so-called "low-level" approach. This article discusses Alcatel's proposal to apply a high-level approach to TINA, which has been developed in the context of the ACTS project SCREEN.
