Application of TINA in Multimedia Services for the Electronic Super Highway

This paper discusses the application of TINA concepts, architectures and related211u001edesign paradigms in interactive multimedia services. TINA adopts object-oriented 211u001emodeling and design techniques in order to improve interoperability, re-use of 211u001especifications and software, and flexible placement of software on computing 211u001eplatforms and nodes. The interactive multimedia services considered in this paper 211u001eare part of the MESH project, carried out by a Dutch consortium of research 211u001einstitutes, industry and end-users. This paper identifies and discusses the role 211u001eand position of protocols and objects in a TINA-based platform for multimedia 211u001eservices. This paper aims at providing guidance to developers of multimedia 211u001eservices for the electronic super highway, by scanning through the TINA standards 211u001eand identifying implementation options for different network technologies.
