A Hybrid System Approach to Differential Diagnosis of Cardiac Disorders

Computer-assisted decision support systems have gained broader acceptance in medicine over the last decade. The goal of these systems is to assist the medical professional in arriving at sound medical decisions. A traditional approach used by physicians for medical decision making, differential diagnosis, is not utilized as a tool in the majority of decision support systems. In this article, new techniques in knowledge-based systems and neural network modeling are applied to the establishment and refinement of differential diagnosis lists.
